Mangoes in cartons banned at govt offices in Sindh

Ban will be imposed at all secretariat buildings, the Sindh Assembly and other government offices

KARACHI:
No one will be allowed to carry or present as gifts cartons of mangoes inside the Sindh Secretariat, according to a Sindh government notification issued on Monday evening.

The notification was issued by the Sindh home department and said the ban was imposed due to some security concerns.

"There are reports that suspects can carry out a terrorist activity through mango cartons so we have banned them," said Sindh information adviser Maula Bux Chandio, adding that it is common for people from the rural areas to send mangoes as gifts to bureaucrats, ministers and other government officials. Terrorists can reportedly take benefit of this practice and commit an untoward incident, he feared.

The ban will be imposed at all secretariat buildings, the Sindh Assembly and other government offices located inside the new and old secretariat buildings.
