Independent candidates: 10 Malir councillors join PTI

Ten local body members, who won the elections as independent candidates from District Malir joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). They made the move under the leadership of Jam Abdul Karim, who contested elections from Karachi Awami Ittehad. PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Halim Adil Sheikh met the Jam group on June 1 in Malir, said Sheikh. They discussed long-term issues after which the group decided to join the PTI, he said. According to Sheikh, PTI chairperson Imran Khan has also welcomed the newly elected local body candidates. Now the party will work together with the newly joined candidates to improve its strength in the city, he assured.
