Forgery: LHC seeks record of MPA’s degree
Awais Khalid said the university had cancelled the degree on account of the forgery
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the Punjab University (PU) on Monday to submit record of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid MPA Bilal Asghar Warraich’s degree that had been declared bogus. Warraich, elected to the Provincial Assembly from PP-84 in Gojra, had filed a petition against university authorities for cancelling his BA degree. He submitted that the university management had cancelled his degree without giving any reason or affording him a hearing. He had requested the court to set aside the university’s action for being illegal. PU legal adviser Awais Khalid told the court that the petitioner had forged record in admission forms for BA. He said the university had cancelled the degree on account of the forgery. Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh directed the lawyer to submit record of the degree. The hearing was adjourned for a week.
