Three NATO trucks attacked

Containers en route from Karachi to Chaman, were ambushed in Wadh tehsil of Khuzdar district.

QUETTA:
Three containers, carrying supplies for Nato forces deployed in Afghanistan, were attacked in Balochistan on Sunday.

The containers, en route from Karachi to Chaman, were ambushed in Wadh tehsil of Khuzdar district, about 300 kilometres southeast of Quetta, by two men on motorcycles.

“One of the trucks overturned and the other two were set ablaze by the attackers,” a local police official Juma Khan told AFP. There were no casualties, he added.

Personnel of Balochistan Levies and other law-enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and combed the area for arresting the attackers. Traffic remained suspended on the RCD Highway in Khuzdar for two hours after the incident.

A case has been registered against unidentified people and the incident is being investigated.

Nato trucks and  tankers are regularly targeted with arson attacks blamed on insurgents attempting to disrupt supply to foreign troops in Afghanistan.
