Track blown up: Bolan Mail escapes disaster in Mastung
The blast had ripped off at least two feet of metal track – enough to derail any locomotive
QUETTA:
A train loaded with passengers heading from Quetta to Karachi narrowly escaped a disaster when a bomb planted on the tracks blew up moments after the train had whizzed past. According to a railway police official, Bolan Mail was carrying people who come from other cities to work in Quetta and they were heading home for summer vacations that have coincided with Ramazan and the upcoming Eid. The train was chugging along a desolate stretch in the Spinzed area of Mastung district when a huge explosion jolted the already shaking train. The blast had ripped off at least two feet of metal track – enough to derail any locomotive, the official said. So far no group has claimed responsibility of the blast.
