Quarrying In Margallas: Federal, K-P govts put on notice

The court issued notices to attorney general of Pakistan and K-P advocate general

ISLAMABAD:
The Supreme Court on Friday issued notices to attorney general of Pakistan and advocate general of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in a suo motu case regarding illegal stone crushing in the Margalla Hills. The three-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, took up the suo motu case against illegal quarrying in the Margallas. The CJ recently took notice of the issue after media reports showed that illegal stone crushing was still under way in the Margalla Hills in violation of the top court’s judgment. During the hearing, the bench warned that if stone crushing was not stopped, they would proceed against both K-P and capital police. The court issued notices to attorney general of Pakistan and K-P advocate general and adjourned the hearing for one week.
