Ajmal appointed as Director Development Cricket in SBP

The 38-year-old has been assigned duties to supervise cricket academies and revive grounds in Punjab

LAHORE: Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has been appointed as Director Development Cricket in Sports Board Punjab (SBP) to identify young and potential players at grassroots level.



Saeed Ajmal, who has been conferred with Sitara-e-Imtiaz for his services to the sport, has been assigned duties to supervise cricket academies, revive cricket grounds and take part in administrative affairs in Punjab as part of development of youth programme.

The renowned spinner will also oversee growth of cricket in schools, colleges and universities, and will play a vital role in locating talented players at primary and middle schools.

Cricketing fraternity congratulated the 38-year-old on his appointment.





Ajmal questions ICC’s testing procedures for bowlers

The Director General of SBP, Usman Anwar, said that the employment of the veteran would certainly help in nurturing future talent of the country.

“We are confident that Ajmal’s expertise in the game would benefit us,” he said.

“Hiring him is part of our cricket development programme to locate talented cricketers at early levels and to groom them under a long term plan,” he added.
