ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday announced reward for four police officials for resolving a blind murder case.

The Special Investigative Unit of the Islamabad Police headed by SP Ilyas had busted a gang of six robbers, who, during investigation, confessed to killing a man in Bhara Kahu after he resisted them when they attempted to snatch Rs2.6 million from him, which he had withdrawn from a local bank.

The victim, whose identity was withheld, was murdered on April 23.

An FIR against unidentified persons was registered at the Bhara Kahu Police Station.

SP Ilyas, Inspector Aslam, Inspector Raja Rahat, ASI Rana Tasleem and Head Constable Zahoor were rewarded for busting the gang.

According to the police, the robbers had chased the victim and his two brothers from Aabpara Market and intercepted them near Bhara Kahu main market, where the robbers unsuccessfully attempted to snatch the amount. The victim had reported resisted the robbers and threw the bag containing the money at his brother, who managed to escape with the sum. The robbers, however, killed him before fleeing.
