Casualties during windstorm: Compensation announced for victims

The government on Thursday announced financial compensation of Rs500,000 each for six persons who died in storm-related incidents in the federal capital on Wednesday night.
The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Minister, Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, on Thursday visited the injured at the Polyclinic and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).
Later, talking to the media, he said that a total of 133 people, most of them with minor injuries, were brought to Polyclinic, Pims and the CDA Hospital.
He said that of the injured, 128 were discharged by Thursday evening.
Chaudhary also said that of the remaining five, four were in stable condition, while the fifth, a 16-year-old boy, was on ventilator at the Pims.

The minister said that a total of six persons including a mother and her two daughters were killed in storm-related incidents.
“Apart from this, hundreds of trees and public and private properties were damaged in the windstorm. Several cars were also damaged,” said Chaudhary.
He said that the exact number of damaged properties and uprooted trees was not known yet.
“We will share details with the public once the survey is complete,” he said.
While talking about the financial compensation, the minister said that the amount had been announced by the prime minister from his discretionary funds.
