‘Out of favour’ Pakistan opener Nasir Jamshed said on Wednesday that it is his ‘ambition’ to make a comeback to the national side.

In an interview with PakPassion.net, the 26-year-old batsman admitted that he is out of the national team due to his poor performance in 2015 World Cup, but he hopes to work on his batting skills and make a successful comeback.

“At the moment I accept that I am out of the Pakistan team due to my performance and obviously it’s my ambition to make a comeback, whether that’s in the next series or the series after that,” he said.

The left-hander further said that it is important he does not repeat past mistakes if given another chance to play for Pakistan.

“The most important thing for me is that if and when I make a comeback, I don’t make the same mistakes in batting again,” he said.

“I want to be an improved player whenever I return to the team and make fewer mistakes, so I can survive in international cricket,” he added.

The southpaw is currently in England representing Old Elizabethans CC in the Birmingham League where he scored 124 in his first game. He hopes playing in different conditions would improve his batting skills and boost his chances for gaining an international cap.

“It’s a great experience to play in England because English conditions are known to be difficult for batsmen due to the seam and swing,” he said.

“So it allows you to improve the technical aspects of your batting which is the main purpose of my stint here,” he added.

Sarfraz Ahmed: The rise of the underdog

Jamshed gained stardom for his performances against India in 2012-2013 where he scored two centuries in one-day series against the hosts.

The 26-year-old also played under current Pakistan team coach Mickey Arthur during his stint with Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League.
