HARIPUR: Residents of Kot Najibullah, Haripur have voiced complaints over prolonged water shortage triggered by a faulty water machine. Speaking to The Express Tribune on Wednesday, they threatened to hold a protest if the matter is not resolved with immediate effect. Noman, a resident of Saeedabad, said the machine installed next to the tubewell near Bani Chowk has not been working for six days. As a result, water supply was disrupted to residents of Saeedabad, Pervezabad, Azizabad, Patwar Khana and Mohalla Khandaq. “The heat is adding to our misery,” he said. “Women and children were forced to fetch water from distant areas. Elected representatives have failed to fulfil their duties.” District council member Sardar Haroonur Rasheed was unavailable to comment on the matter. However, officials of the public health engineering department said the machine was indeed out of order and should be fixed over the next few hours.
