Ramazan: APTMA urges exemption from load-shedding
The proposed 10 hours load shedding would force the industry to close down one shift and lay off tens and thousands
LAHORE:
Acting chairman of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association’s (Aptma) Punjab chapter, Syed Ali Ahsan, has urged the government to maintain load-shedding exemption to the textile industry during Ramazan.
He said the proposed 10 hours load shedding, starting half an hour before Iftar and ending half an hour after Sehr, would force the industry to close down one shift and lay off tens and thousands of workers across Punjab. “This would be unfair to the labourers ahead of Ramazan and no one would want to lay them off,” he added.
He said the total load of textile units on independent feeders was hardly 120-150MW, which could easily be managed by the Ministry of Water and Power in order to ensure smooth operations.
