At least nine injured in Mardan suicide attack

Bomber’s suicide vest exploded as he moved close to a parked police mobile

MARDAN: At least nine people were injured when a suicide bomber exploded himself near a vehicle of Mardan police parked near the city police station.

DPO Mardan Faisal Shahzad said the bomber’s suicide vest exploded as he moved close to his target, SHO Ashiq Hussain's vehicle.

Eye witnesses, however, said an explosion took place after a few gunshots were fired.

According to SSP Operations Saifullah Khan, the bomber was wearing a suicide vest with 5kg of of explosive material.



Another bomb attached to a motorcycle was later defused by the BDS, said an official.

While the police cordoned the area, investigation was initiated.
