In the line of duty: ‘54 traffic policemen died since 2015’ 

Steps are being taken for the welfare of the heirs of the martyred policemen

KARACHI:
As many as 54 personnel of traffic police have laid down their lives in the line of duty since 2015, said traffic DIG Amir Shaikh at a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Garden, on Monday for distribution of compensation cheques and ration among the heirs of the martyred traffic policemen. He said that the chief minister has approved enhancing the compensation amount from Rs2 million to Rs5million. Sindh IG AD Khawaja, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, paid tribute to the slain traffic policemen said that the attacks of militants or terrorists cannot lower the morale of the police. He vowed that those involved in the killings will soon be brought to justice. He added that steps are being taken for the welfare of the heirs of the martyred policemen and scholarships for their children for higher education.
