Fighting polio: Drive against crippling disease ends

Special counters were set up at parks, railway stations, bus stands and airport

RAWALPINDI: Anti-polio campaign ended in Rawalpindi District on Sunday. During the drive which started on May 23, almost 8,11,798 children below five years of age were administered polio drops.

About 1,850 teams took part in the campaign.

Talking to APP, Executive District Health Officer Dr Arshad Ali Sabir on Sunday said special counters were established at public parks, railway stations, bus stands, airport and other transit points to administer anti-polio drops to the children.

He lauded the staff of the district health department who played a key role to make the campaign result-oriented.

Dr Arshad said the district health department was making all out efforts to make Rawalpindi polio-free.
