Prices of most vegetables at Sunday Bazaars were higher compared to last week.

According to a price list issued by the Lahore Market Committee, price of capsicums was higher by 76 per cent; the vegetable sold for Rs26 to Rs30 per kilogramme.

Price of cucumber (native) was higher by 28 per cent as it sold for Rs28 to Rs32 per kiligramme. Native round gourd (tinday) was available for Rs35 per kilogramme following an increase of 67 per cent in its price. Price of fenugreek (methi) witnessed a 54 per cent increase; it sold for Rs33 to Rs37 per kilogramme.

Bottled gourd (ghiya kaddu) sold for Rs19 to Rs21 per kilogramme following a 40 per cent increase in its price. Price of cabbages witnessed a 36 per cent increase; these sold for Rs13 to Rs15 per kilogramme.

Taro roots’ (arvi) price was higher by 36 per cent as it sold for Rs63 to Rs68 per kilogramme. Farmed green chili was available for Rs23 to Rs25 a kilogramme following a 25 per cent increase in its price. Price of green chili (native) remained stable at Rs35 to Rs40 a kilogramme.

Spinach’s price was up by 18 per cent increase; it sold for Rs11 to Rs13 per kilogramme. Thai and Chinese varieties of ginger witnessed 15 and 13 per cent increase in their prices, respectively. Ginger (Thai) sold for Rs40 to Rs45 a kilogramme and its Chinese variety for Rs80 to Rs85 per kilogramme.


Prices of onions and tomatoes witnessed a 10 per cent increase. Onions sold for Rs19 to Rs22 a kilogramme and tomatoes for Rs9 to Rs11 per kilogramme. Price of potatoes was up by 10 per cent increase as these sold for Rs20 to Rs23 per kilogramme.

Cauliflower registered a 7 per cent increase in its price. It sold for Rs40 to Rs43 per kilogramme. Bitter gourd sold for Rs25 to Rs32 per kilogramme following an increase of 7 per cent in its price.

Price of brinjals witnessed a four per cent increase; these sold for Rs25 to Rs29 per kilogramme. Price of garlic (Chinese) was up by 3 per cent increase as it sold for Rs140 to Rs150 per kilogramme. Price of garlic (native) remained stable at Rs110 to Rs120 per kilogramme.

Price of okra was lower by 20 per cent; it sold for Rs35 to Rs40 per kilogramme. Pumpkin sold for Rs6 per kilogramme following a 14 per cent decline in its price.

Sponge gourd (ghiya tori) sold for Rs30 to Rs40 per kilogramme following a 12 per cent decline in its price. Price of lemons (native) was lower by 11 to 12 per cent.

Premium quality native lemons were sold at the market sold for Rs170 to Rs180 a kilogramme and its low grade variety for Rs110 to Rs116 per kilogramme.
