Tenth convocation : IIUI vital seat of learning: Sulaiman

29 women students awarded PhD degrees, 145 foreign students also graduate.

The IIUI is a higher seat of learning of vital significance, and its services and contributions are highly appreciated worldwide.

These views were expressed by Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University Riyadh Rector and Pro-Chancellor IIUI Prof Dr Sulaiman bin Abdullah Aba-Al Khail on the IIUI’s 10th convocation of its women students on Sunday.

The IIUI conferred 6,024 degrees on women graduates including 29 PhDs.

The IIUI pro chancellor also awarded 150 gold medals. Around 145 foreign students were also awarded degrees.

In his address, Dr Sulaiman said that IIUI was progressing rapidly and hoped that the university soon would be in top-ranked universities of the world.

Pro-chancellor said the IIUI was a symbol of brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, and played a vital role to discourage extremism and fanaticism as such tendencies had distorted the true image of Islam.

He urged scholars to contribute to combat negative propaganda against Islam and Muslims in the world.

The IIUI pro-chancellor was of the view that the president of Pakistan was taking a keen interest to see IIUI is on top priority.


Dr Sulaiman praised the contributions of the IIUI in educating and training the youth.

IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that, since its beginning, the university had focused on integrating revealed and acquired knowledge and to restore the leading role of Muslims in education and knowledge creation, thus serve the humanity unhindered by geographic boundaries.

He said that the university was seen as a torch-bearer among Islamic educational institutions in the world.

The IIUI rector said that the IIUI was determined to produce skilled manpower with the message not only to serve their respective communities but also serve the entire humanity, and extend the message of peaceful co-existence.

Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh mentioned that on the national level, the university was a beacon of light for other universities because of its exemplary research and teaching activities; and on international level, the IIUI welcomed students without any discrimination of race, religion, colour and nationality.

IIUI president apprised participants of the convocation about the establishment of an Information Technology Centre aimed at computerising complete record of the university.
