ABBOTABAD:
A woman was strangled by assailants in a remote village in Galiyat on Sunday. However, her mother-in-law has alleged that she died after she accidentally slipped off the roof of their house.

A police official told The Express Tribune the deceased was identified as Samiya Bibi and hailed from Dorkas village. “Shahnaz Bibi, the deceased’s mother, informed us that her 19-year-old was subjected to violence before she was murdered,” he said.

According to the official, Shahnaz Bibi said her daughter was married to Sardar Rehan, a resident of Toheedabad village, and lived alone with her mother-in-law. Muhammad Hussain, her husband, was working abroad. “The deceased’s mother said she received a phone call from Samiya Bibi’s father- in-law on Saturday night,” the official said. “They told her the 19-year-old had died. Shahnaz Bibi insisted marks on the deceased’s body proved that she had been subjected to torture before she was killed.”
