Tackling terrorism; ‘Pakistan wants durable peace in Afghanistan’
The minister said top leaders of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had safe houses in Afghanistan
SIALKOT:
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that defence of the country was in good hands.
Addressing the oath taking ceremony of newly elected office-bearers of Sialkot Press Club, he said Pakistan would continue its efforts to establish durable peace in Afghanistan. Asif said the US drone attack was not a failure of Pakistan’s foreign policy. “But it definitely has implications for the process through which peace is being established in Afghanistan,” he said.
The minister said top leaders of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had safe houses in Afghanistan.
“Everyone knows about this but the United States has been unwilling to take action on those safe houses where TTP leaders like Mullah Fazlullah are planning attacks on Pakistani soil,” he said.
