By the book: Accountant general challenges his transfer

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah directed the federal government to respond to the petition by May 30

LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued a notice to the federal government on a petition by Punjab Accountant General Zafar Hasan Raza challenging his transfer.

The petitioner submitted that the auditor general of Pakistan (AGP) had transferred him and posted him finance member in the Economic Energy Commission. He said the AGP had no authority to transfer him. He said under the law, an officer in grade 21 or above could only be transferred following the prime minister’s approval. He said the office of Economic Energy Commission member was of grade 22 and that a grade 21 officer could not be posted to it.

He requested the court to declare his transfer unlawful.

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah directed the federal government to respond to the petition by May 30.
