Appreciation: Czech army chief lauds Zarb-e-Azb gains

Umar also appreciated the successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid rich tribute to the Pakistani security forces

RAWALPINDI: Czech Army chief Gen Josef Becvar called on Gen Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss matters of mutual interest, including regional security and defence cooperation.

A statement issued by the military’s media wing said the Czech general appreciated the breakthroughs achieved by Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistan to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Gen Becvar also laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and met with Defence Secretary Lt Gen (retd) Alam Khattak to discuss modalities to enhance defence cooperation.

Maldives Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar also called on Gen Raheel to deliberate on issues of mutual interest. An Inter-Services Public Relations statement said matters of regional security and defence cooperation were discussed.

Umar also appreciated the successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid rich tribute to the Pakistani security forces.
