BANNU:
At least six children died in a measles outbreak in Bannu on Tuesday. The number of cases reported from Bannu district alone has climbed to 20.
The families of the deceased held protests against the negligence of doctors and urged the government to take action against them.
Officials privy to the development told The Express Tribune six children were admitted to Women and Children Hospital, Bannu over the past few days. However, they died after they were not vaccinated. Noor, a protester, said neither doctors nor medicines were available at the medical facility. She added doctors had focused more on their private clinics and paid little attention to hospitals.
Another protester, Ajab Khan, said inexperienced doctors on house jobs were running the hospitals.
Tehsil councillor Masoom Wazir promised action against those who were negligent will be taken.
