2018 ELECTIONS: Chitral locals demand fair polls
The locals have also asked the government to pass a resolution to encourage more women to vote
CHITRAL:
The residents of Chitral have urged the relevant authorities to conduct the 2018 general elections in a “rigging-free” manner. They insisted the electoral process should also be streamlined.
The demands were made at a meeting held in Chitral on Tuesday. The moot was held by a citizen-based initiative. “The locals have demanded the government [carry out] a census in the country and [subsequently] new constituencies should be formed,” a participant of the meeting said.
They all were also of the view that the government should implement a new procedure to register voters. All these decisions should be taken before the next general elections are held.
The locals have also asked the government to pass a resolution to encourage more women to vote. Locals added there should be a separate building for women voters in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
