Upcoming: ‘Blind Love’ to hit theatres come Eid
Producers’ alliance churns out first film in seven months
LAHORE:
Film-makers based in Lahore established the Producers’ Alliance Company (PAC), last year, to give competition to Karachi’s film circuit that has “practically taken over the industry”.
Almost seven months on, their first project, the Faisal Bukhari directorial Blind Love, is set to hit theatres. While Eidul Fitr has been earmarked for the film’s release, a trailer launch ceremony was recently held with industry notables such as Mustafa Qureshi and Irfan Khoosat in attendence.
It is pertinent to note that the film’s director himself is a Karachiite. Talking to The Express Tribune, Bukhari said the film revolves around a young man who falls in love with a visually-impaired girl. “Film-making trends have changed worldwide and here we are still making clichéd comedies,” he said, adding that he hopes Blind Love will prove that a star cast does not guarantee success. “It is true that most of my actors are young but I think they have done a fantastic job,” he said. “I have worked very hard on it. Audiences will not forget a single sequence from the film.”
Film releases pushed ahead
The cast of the film includes Aamir Qureshi, Mathira, Nimra Khan, Imran Bukhari and Yasir Shah. Blind Love has been shot at various locations across Pakistan and its post-production has been carried out in Bangkok. Shah is looking forward to the film which he believes will be a major milestone of his career. “Blind Love will surely be a trendsetter,” he added.
PAC Secretary Chaudhary Ejaz Kamran said he came up with the idea of an alliance with a group of friends who all wanted to invest in the dying film scene of Lahore. “We want to get more people on board and for that we have to show them what we’re capable of. This film will do that,” he said, adding, “I have no doubt Blind Love will do extremely well on the box office.”
