Absenteeism: MQM denies suspension of Hyd committee

Party sources confirmed that the 17-member committee remained suspended

HYDERABAD:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain, suspended Hyderabad zonal committee on Saturday only to restore it by the evening after upbraiding the members.

Although the MQM spokesperson denied the suspension, party sources confirmed that the 17-member committee remained suspended. "Quaid-i-Tehreek telephoned the zonal office early in the morning but none of the zonal committee members were present at the zone," said a MQM worker, requesting anonymity.

However, MQM spokesman Javed Khan told The Express Tribune that the committee was not officially suspended. "But bhai [Altaf] did berate them [the members] for their indiscipline."
