D I KHAN:
Residents of DI Khan took to the streets over the killing of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader Alam Shah Ustarana in Ramak village on Thursday.

Ustarana, who owned an iron and cement store, was killed at his shop near Parowa police check post on Wednesday night.

Armed assailants barged into the premises and opened fire on him. Police have registered an FIR against the heinous murder. However, the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.

On Thursday, business activities screeched to a halt in DI Khan. Shops were closed to mourn the JUI-F leader’s death.

During the protest, residents and JUI-F workers pressed the government to arrest the assailants and take them to task. After the protest, Ustarana was laid to rest at his hometown in Mangal.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Parowa Tehsil Nazim Imtiaz Ahmad Khan Baloch announced a day’s mourning over the killing of JUI-F leader. “Ustarana’s murder is extremely unfortunate,” he said.
