'Gwadar port to become game changer'

Jamaldini said the Gwadar Business Complex would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs2.18 billion

QUETTA: The Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Kamran Michael said on Wednesday that the Gwadar port will soon acquire the position of a game changer in the regional economy and marine trade.

He expressed these views during his visit to Gwadar Free Zone, Port Bay Expressway and Gwadar Business Complex projects.

He said that Gwadar port would prove to be shipping hub due to its proximity with strait of Hormuz which would give a short access to western China, Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics (CARs).

Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Dostain Jamaldini briefing the minister said that 18.9km-long East Bay Way would be completed by 2018 at a cost of Rs14,016 million under CPEC project. This expressway would be used to move cargo shipment on the port.

Jamaldini said the Gwadar Business Complex would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs2.18 billion. The complex will feature banks, offices, container yards, cafeteria, seamen centres.

Jeech | 8 years ago | Reply Even Chahbahar port would promote the safty of Gawadar. Indians are really stupid in enmity with Pakistan. CPEC is as brilliant reality as an atomic Pakistan is.

Humza | 8 years ago | Reply @amar: I am sure Titan is Indian and not Iranian since only Indians are obsessed with all things Pakistani and fret about CPEC and development in Pakistan. Iran itself knows Chahbahar cannot compete with Gwader since Gwader is a real deep sea port unlike Chahbahar. That's why india keeps sending agents like Yadav from Afghanistan to disrupt development. It's sad that India can't work with its neighbors to build peace. Instead India has bad relations with all its neigbours like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh,Nepal, China and Pakistan.

With turkey we have second best reltaionship With saudi and us we are a begging bowl With iran there is potential With india no future until we dont become as strong as india to sit down as equals With afghanistan we need to get tougher as we give them aid host 4 million afghan refugees and what do we get in return abusive language and terrorist attacks this must be like a trade deal lol

I have yet to hear anyone credible & non-Pakistani talk about Gwadar & CPEC in such glowing terms or even a mention of it in the international media. Gwadar & CPEC have serious security problems. Even if they become operational, they will require constant security as they happen to be in some of the world's most violent areas. On the other hand, its competitor, Chabahar has no such serious issues and has much more potential to be a real "game changer".
