Former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jahangir has been awarded an honorary doctorate by an Ivy League varsity. The University of Pennsylvania—commonly knows as UPenn—recently conferred an honorary Doctor of Law degree on Jahangir during an on-campus ceremony. The honour was bestowed on her for her contribution to law and human rights. Jehangir—a founding member of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan— also has honorary degrees from Canada’s Queen’s University, Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen, University of Zurich and the United States’ Ameherst College.
