ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has developed a new IT-based mechanism to minimise coordination and communication gap between students and exam department.

For the first time in the history of the university, students have been informed about their exam schedule through text messages on their mobile phones.

So far, 0.4 million students have been informed, the controller examinations said on Tuesday.

“We are using the latest technology to provide important and instant information to the students,” he said.

The exam department continues to work for provision of better facilities to students and to resolve their issues regarding examination, the official added.

The AIOU has also introduced an online tracking system for facilitation of students to check status of their degrees and certificates issuance.

The status of applications could be checked at the website www[dot]dts[dot]aiou[dot]edu[dot]pk.
