Nutritionist and fitness trainer Fuzzy Faruque shares her action-packed day with us and gives us a few health lessons along the way. From an intense early morning spin class, to wholesome Ultimate Detox juices, a day in her life is motivation enough to get you out of your fitness rut!

7am: First alarm. Snooze.

7:30am: Second alarm. WAKE UP!

8am: I leave home for an 8:30am spin class! This is a 45-minute high intensity cardio class, set up like a club. We spin in darkness with coloured lights to create the energy we need. The class consists of spinning to the beat of music, with interval resistance and sprints. You get such an adrenaline high after the class!

9am: The class goes on till 9:45am.

10am: Ready, and charged up to teach the ‘Body Sculpt’ class. Clients come in smiling and happy and have incredible energy! For a trainer, that energy in a group class, means everything.

11am: I’m drenched in sweat and grab my pomegranate and coconut water juice. Pomegranate is high in antioxidants and enhances blood flow throughout the body, which is crucial for our muscles, especially after a workout. Coconut water is a great alternative to water – it’s isotonic in nature, useful for rehydrating the body with the essential nutrients that the body has lost while sweating.

11:15pm: I now have to do my personal training session. I train between two to four people per month.

12noon : The personal training session is now over, and I close my accounts for the morning.

1pm: It’s time for breakfast! This consists of a three-egg omelette with spinach and cottage cheese, and a piece of toasted brown bread on the side.

2pm: I head to the Ultimate Detox kitchen to meet my gorgeous business partner, Salina, with whom I have a great relationship. When we decided to work together, we didn’t know each other very well. Not only has she become a close friend, she is also an incredible business partner. We balance each other out with our strengths and weaknesses.

3pm: In the kitchen we observe, manage, and brainstorm different marketing techniques and ideas for new products. We meet daily to discuss and monitor the kitchen and bounce off new ideas for new products and promotions. We are very honest with each other – I think for the business to grow (and for us to grow as individuals and business partners), that is key in our relationship.

4pm: I’m back home and ready for lunch, which consists of a delicious bowl of okra, stir-fried in olive oil with tomatoes and onions.

5pm: I head over to my laptop. I am now researching, updating social media and creating a new play list for the evening class. I love finding remixes to songs that are trending. My all time favourite is a remix I found of Beat It by Michael Jackson and Holy Grail by Jay-Z. It’s important to find the perfect songs for spin. The whole class feeds off the energy that’s created by the music.

6pm: Still on the laptop ... it is now 6:30pm and time to get ready and leave for the evening spin class. I’m always super excited about this; it’s my all-time favourite class!

7pm: I’m at the studio. Microphone, check. Music, check, Lights, check.

7:15pm The SPIN X evening class begins! What an adrenaline rush.

8pm: The class is over and has left my legs feeling like jelly. I’m back home, where a big glass of protein shake awaits me.

9pm: It’s time for a hot shower! Sigh, I’m in a more relaxed mode.

10pm: Time for dinner! This comprises some cooked veggies and lots of water. I like to stir-fry my vegetables in coconut oil. It’s the easiest and least time-consuming way - chop up whatever vegetables are in the fridge, stir-fry for five minutes and your food is good to go.

11pm: This is ‘me time’. My brain switches off and I watch some meaningless TV shows.

12am: I’m tucked into bed. The alarm is set. Good night.
