LAHORE:
Renowned action choreographer, Qaiser Mastana, passed away in Lahore after suffering from a heart attack during the wee hours of Tuesday. It was on the sets of Shaan Shahid directorial Zarrar, when the 60-year-old complained of chest pain and lied down. Although the shoot was still under way, the crew advised Mastana to go home around 4am. He breathed his last after returning from Fajr prayers.
Specialising in the direction of stunts and action sequences, Mastana was a reputable name of the Lahore film industry for the past 40 years. He choreographed action sequences for over 500 films, with Zarrar and Sawaal 700 Crore Dollar Ka being his last two projects.
“Mastana was not feeling well when he returned home last night. He was planning on going back to the sets following his morning prayers,” said fellow action choreographer and friend, Manzoor Musafir. He also revealed that Mastana had been experiencing health issues for the past six months and had been advised to take a break from work.

Majority of the stunt instructors today are students of Mastana. Originally hailing from Lahore, Mastana had moved to Karachi following the crisis of the industry but had recently returned to his hometown for work.
His last rites were performed at Shah Farid graveyard on Tuesday night. Mastana is survived by two sons, a daughter and his widow.
