Aishwarya or Mallika: who wore it better?

How Bollywood’s making its presence felt at the Cannes red carpet.

KARACHI:
With 69th Cannes Film Festival on the roll, the globe’s biggest film stars are putting their best foot forward. Bollywood divas were not far behind, and with just a few days in to the festivities here’s what the Bollywood A-list stars wore on Day 1 and Day 3

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

A regular at Cannes, Aish walked down the red carpet for the 15th time in Lebanese fashion designer Ali Younes’ champagne coloured gown with a cape. Her uber chic laid back style complimented the gold and shimmer she adorned for the premier of Slack Bay. The sequined attire with a simple hairstyle worked best for the Sarbjit actor as she swayed in her elegance.

Exuding minimalist style, Rai’s embellished gold tulle, clinched at the waist complimented her curves. However, even though the jewellery and pinkish-nude lipstick did the trick for the Bollywood starlet, the blue eye make-up didn’t quite work with her look.

Mallika Sherawat

The Murder actor was the first among Bollywood celebrities to walk the red carpet on day one of the biggest cinematic extravaganza. Over the years, she has become a frequent at Cannes, dazzling in bold outfits. However, for the 69th festival she chose a subtle strapless Georges Hobeika gown and paired it with Mellerio diamond jewellery to sashay in style.

Her all-over stripped gown and kohl-lined eyes with nude lip colour made her look, at the Woody Allen’s much talked about movie, Cafe Society, a relief from her understated or sometimes over-the-top fashion statements. The light hues of the dress were best complimented with Sherwat’s long wavy locks.
