Safety measures: ‘Security of Chinese engineers ensured’
Home secy, Punjab police IG visit construction site of power plant

Chinese engineersHome Secretary Major (r) Azam Suleman and Inspector General (IG) of Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on Saturday visited the construction site of a power plant in Havaili Bahadur Shah, Jhang, and reviewed the security of Chinese engineers and workers there.
Former IG Rana Maqbool Ahmad and Special Protection Unit Additional IG Agha Yousuf also accompanied them. Faisalabad Commissioner Salman Ghani, RPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana, acting DCO of Jhang Abdul Qadir Shah and Jhang DPO Humayun Masud Sandhu were also present. Officers of security agencies gave a briefing to the home secretary and the IG.
They said comprehensive arrangements had been made for protection and safety of Chinese engineers and workers. They said Elite Force teams and officials of the Special Protection Bureau had been deployed for their round-the-clock security.
The home secretary said that no one should be allowed to enter the power plant site without screening and checking. He said search operations should be conducted in neighbourhoods near the power plant. The home secretary also directed the administration of the power plant to arrange for shade, fans and water for workers. Acting Commissioner Salman Ghani told the home secretary that security teams visted the Havaili Bahadur Shah Power Plant regularly to ensure foolproof security. “Security of Chinese engineers is our top priority.” He said the divisional and district administrations and security agencies were maintaining coordination for security of the foreign engineers.
Farewell for commissioner
A ceremony was arranged on Saturday in honour of former Faisalabad commissioner Nasem Nawaz who has been transferred from Faisalabad and posted as local government secretary.
Acting Commissioner Salman Ghani, GC University Vice Chancellor Muhammad Ali, Punjab Medical College Principal Alfareed Zafar, Faisalabad Development Authority Director General Yawar Hussain, Anti-Corruption Department Director Ayub Khan, Additional Commissioners Kazim Awan, Khadim Jilani, Maqbul Majuka and Local Government Director Mian Muhammad Jamil were present. The acting commissioner paid tributes to Nawaz and wished him well. Nawaz thanked the officers present.
