Assault: Woman ‘raped’ by village quack

MULTAN: Police on Friday arrested a quack accused of raping a woman in Mian Channu on Thursday.  A police spokesman told newsmen that Myra* had been suffering from a stomach ache and had gone to Arshad’s clinic for treatment.  He said she was asked to wait because he was busy with other patients.  He said Myra had told them that he had made her wait till all the patients had left. He said when she was finally called for a check up, the quack also sent his helper away.  “When she went to the room, Arshad gave her some drugs and assaulted her,” he said.  The spokesman said the woman was saved by the quack’s helper who rushed to the room on hearing her screams. The police spokesman said the woman had then narrated her ordeal to her family.  He said a village council had decided to shave to the quack’s head and eyebrows.  “Residents of the area also blackened his face after shaving his head and face. Later, they handed him over to police,” the spokesman said.  He said Saddar police had registered an FIR under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
