PESHAWAR:
Model and actress Ainee Khan admitted she was harassed at a sit-in organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on May 9 in the city.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, Ainee said she participated at the sit-in in the city where PTI Chairperson Imran Khan was scheduled to address participants.
“I [attended the sit-in] to propose to Imran,” she said.
The actress denied allegations of creating conspiracy theories.
“I was not pushed by anyone to reach the sit-in and only came to propose to the man I love,” she said.
According to Ainee, she wanted a trustworthy and honest life partner – qualities she believes Imran embodies.
The model said she had reached the sit-in two hours prior to Imran’s address to meet him. However, she was harassed by party workers. “I was rescued by the police and media crews who were present on the occasion to cover the gathering,” she added.
Ainee criticised the campaign initiated by a PTI worker against her on social media, saying it was an attempt to defame her.
“I was not expecting this kind of behaviour from PTI workers,” she said.
When asked to explain why she had earlier denied being harassed to the media, Ainee said she did it for the sake of Imran.
“I did not want anyone to raise a finger at Imran and his party,” she said. “But later, I realised I should unveil the real face of PTI workers to the nation.”
The model added, “I was in a sari so people could realise I was not a party worker and had come to ask the party’s chairperson to marry me.” She also expressed her dissatisfaction at not being allowed to meet Imran at Bani Gala.
“I approached Imran’s residence at Bani Gala numerous times but was not allowed to meet him so I finally decided to propose to him at a political gathering,” she said.
