Accident: Five train carriages run off tracks    

The engineering wing of Pakistan Railways rushed to the site to clear the down track that suspended railway traffic

HYDERABAD: Five carriages of  a freight train derailed at Tando Tayyab Railway Crossing of Hyderabad Railway Junction on Thursday, causing a suspension of railway traffic for five hours.

According to Hyderabad railway station superintendent Shamsuddin Solangi, the incident took place when the Karachi-bound freight train reached Tando Tayyab Railway Crossing.

The engineering wing of Pakistan Railways rushed to the site to clear the down track that suspended railway traffic, Solangi said, adding that due to the incident, Karachi-bound passenger trains had to stop at various railway stations.

According to Solangi, preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident took place due to a technical fault, however, further investigation is under way.
