Flood aftermath: People move court for Watan Cards
NADRA seeks time to produce relevant information before court.

More than 12 people belonging to a flood affected village in Dera Ghazi Khan have moved court against National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) for not receiving Watan Cards.
District and sessions judge Malik Pir Muhammad Adil on Wednesday adjourned the hearing after Yasir Ali Khosa – counsel for the NADRA, the district coordination officer and the district officer (Revenue) –asked for some time to produce the relevant information before the court. The next hearing was scheduled for February 6.
The petitioners included Wahid Bakhsh, Muhammad Salahuddin, Amir Hussain, Mazhar Hussain, Muhammad Irfan, Zakiya Bibi, Noor Khatun, Sakina Mai, Suddan Mai, Muhammad Azhar, Muhammad Ramzan and Mussarat Abbas. Petitioner’s counsel Rana Muhammad Akram submitted that they were residents of Chara Darkhanwala area in Moza Nurpur Ghausabad. He said the area had been included in the list of flood affected villages compiled by the NADRA. He added that other residents of the area had received their Watan Cards but the authority had not issued a card to them. DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu, EDO (Revenue), district officer (Revenue), Dera Ghazi Khan tehsildar, Kot Chatha naib tehsildar, NADRA district registration officer and assistant manager were the respondents. D&SJ Adil directed the respondents’ counsel to furnish relevant the record on the next hearing.
