ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) office continues to operate on a greenbelt near F-8 Markaz despite having been allotted a land in Faizabad.

According to sources, the office has been “temporarily housed” in its current location since 2006.

The civic agency had allotted four acres of land to the ITP near Faizabad where some of its departments are functioning.

The SSP (traffic), Malik Matloob, avoided commenting on the issue when contacted, while the AIG (General) Nisar Ahmed expressed his lack of awareness about and said that he was new in the force and would share information after taking up the issue with the high-ups.

An official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that talks were under way with the police and the capital administration for removal of check posts including the ITP office from the greenbelt.

A source in traffic police said that a few ITP offices were working near Faizabad and it was up to the police high-ups to decide about shifting of the traffic office to Faizabad.
