PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has ordered the registration of FIRs against National Accountability Bureau Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa director general and investigation officer for torturing a suspect.

The Peshawar High Court bench, comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Musarrat Hilali, was heard a writ petition on Wednesday.

The petition was filed by Saiqa Gul Khitab through her counsel Sardar Ali Raza.

Raza told the court the petitioner’s father Sardar Gul Khitab, a naib qasid in National Accountability Bureau, was arrested on charges of corruption.

The counsel told the bench he was produced before an accountability court and was remanded to National Accountability Bureau for interrogation where he was tortured.

“We filed an application for medical checkup which proved Sardar Gul was tortured.”

Raza said Sardar Gul had filed an appeal at Peshawar High Court to register an FIR after his application was turned down.

The bench, after hearing the arguments, ordered the police to register an FIR within three days against the National Accountability Bureau DG and investigation officer.
