Mosquito alert: Dengue larvae detected at 238 sites in Faisalabad
The teams checked 551,078 indoor and 269,689 outdoor sites during the four months
FAISALABAD:
The Health Department detected dengue larvae at 238 sites in Faisalabad during past four months.
Talking to reporters, Dr Bilal Ahmad, the district coordinator for anti-dengue activities, said that monitoring teams had checked more than 820,776 sites during the period. “The teams checked 551,078 indoor and 269,689 outdoor sites during the four months. During the surveillance, the teams found dengue larvae breeding at 238 sites,” he said.
Ahmad said that 16 people had been taken into custody for violating dengue control regulations. “We also registered cases against 375 people for not taking steps for elimination of dengue larvae,” he said.
He said that the surveillance teams had sprayed insecticides at 2,065 sites. “We also released 32,500 fish in 34 ponds to eradicate dengue mosquitoes,” he said.
He said that five patients suspected of having dengue fever were brought to Allied Hospital during the period. “Out of them, only one patient was from Faisalabad. All of them were later discharged after they fully recovered from the disease,” the official said.
