Border violation: 10 Indian fishermen held, two boats seized
Both Pakistan and India frequently carry out such arrests, as the maritime border in Arabian Sea is poorly defined
Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA) has arrested ten Indian fishermen on Tuesday for allegedly trespassing into Pakistan’s territorial waters.
According to MSA spokesperson, they arrested the fishermen who had violated Pakistan’s territorial waters while fishing in the open sea. Two boats were also seized, the spokesperson added. The arrested fishermen were later handed over to Docks police station.
The police officials said that cases have been registered against the accused fishermen under foreign and fisheries acts, while further investigation is under way.
Both Pakistan and India frequently carry out such arrests, as the maritime border in Arabian Sea is poorly defined and many fishing boats lack the technology needed to be certain of their precise location.
