Fashion and lifestyle journalist and stylist, Haiya Bokhari jogs her mind as she answers our craziest questions. She knows just what to change about the way people dress here and how to be diplomatic in the fashion industry, Haiya gives us a few tips along the way
1. One thing you would like to change about how people here dress?
Remove all visible designer logos and brand consciousness. Wear it because it looks good on you and makes you happy, not because it’s Gucci and in trend.
Kiss my husband goodnight.
3. Who do you think is the best dressed in Pakistan?
Rehan Bashir, Ayesha Noon, Zahra Khan and Feeha Jamshed. I like Zohra’s eclectic style too.
4. What song is stuck in your head right now?
Zombie by Fela Kuti.
5. What’s the last picture in your camera roll?
It’s a video of Muzi Sufi twirling with a sheer curtain and giggling.
I’m obsessed with tribal jewellery these days, so some chunky bracelets would be it.
7. The last book you read?
The Festival of Insignificance by Milan Kundera.
8. If your life were a movie, what would the title be?
The most apt title is too inappropriate so I’ll go with: Is It Morning Already?
9. Which actress would you like to cast to play you?
Audrey Hepburn (Oh, the vanity!).
10. Who would you like to style that you haven’t already?
I would love to style Reham Khan, she could definitely benefit from a makeover.
11. What can one always find in your handbag?
Several lipsticks, sunglasses, house keys, power bank (not necessarily always charged though), headphones, wallet, hair clips and a perfume.
12. What three qualities does one need to work in fashion?
First and foremost, an interest or educational background in this field comes in handy, then a thick skin and lots of patience!
13. Choose an alternative career for yourself?
If I had steady hands, I would’ve definitely been a makeup artist.
14. Dream vacation?
One that never ends.
15. First thought when you wake up in the morning?
Five more minutes of sleep, please.
16. Favourite comfort food?
Nihari.
17. Favourite exercise?
Lying down in bed.
18. The best present you ever received?
I’d get into serious trouble if I told you that.
19. The best part of your job?
Getting to do what I love to do every day for a living, and working with so many pretty things and people.
