The Christian community will take out rallies in all major cities in the country to show their support and solidarity with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael said on Sunday.

He was addressing a Solidarity with the Prime Minister rally. The rally started from Qaddafi Stadium and ended at the Liberty Roundabout. Participants were carrying placards with messages expressing their support for the prime minister. Micheal said a national convention of minority communities would soon be organised and the prime minister would be invited to chair the event. “We are sons of this soil. Our ancestors are buried in this land. We have seen Nawaz Sharif deliver on his promises. Other leaders make promises but don’t act on them. Sharif is a true leader,” he said. He said Sharif had championed the cause of equality between all religious communities in the country and had always stood with minority communities in the latter’s hour of need. Micheal said the country was not just facing threats from outside its borders. “Some people in the country are also against its economic progress,” he said. He said sound economic policies of the Sharif government had been recognised the world over. MPA Shahzad Munshi was also present on the occasion.
