MULTAN:

DCO Nadir Chatta on Sunday said all ongoing development projects should be completed by the end of current financial year. He was addressing a meeting of the district coordination committee after taking charge of his office at Circuit House.

The meeting reviewed progress on all ongoing development projects in Multan. Planning and Finance Department officials gave a presentation on the projects. The DCO said all departments concerned should ensure transparency in use of funds. “Funds have been entrusted to us for public welfare. Our task is to implement these projects to improve living standards. Misuse of public money will not be tolerated.” The DCO said a third-party audit of projects funded by the Finance Department would be conducted to ensure transparency. He said new development schemes should be implemented after consultation with parliamentarians. “It is an honour for me to be appointed to the city of saints. I shall do my best to serve residents of Multan,” said DCO Multan.

He said billions of rupees had been allocated by the provincial government for development in Multan. He said projects initiated by public representatives had been prioritised. “These projects were urgently needed in some constituencies,” he added. Chatta said health officials should ensure provision of medical equipment to all public hospitals in the city.

“Classrooms will be built in schools where additional space is required,” he added. “No society can prosper without health and education infrastructure.” National Assembly Member Rana Qasim Noon and several provincial assembly members attended the meeting. Noon said the bureaucracy should eliminate red tape. “Development projects suggested by public representatives should be completed on schedule.”
