Waiting for justice : Mothers of missing workers share grief
Around 50 party workers have been killed since the beginning of the Karachi operation
KARACHI:
Mother’s Day celebrations at Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) headquarters Nine-Zero witnessed moments of sorrow as mothers of deceased and missing party workers shared their grief. The ceremony was organised by the party’s female leadership on Sunday. Party leaders Khushbakht Shujaat and Zareen Majeed, along with other female members, also held a press conference. “We have gathered here to pay tribute and share the pain of the mothers whose children have either been killed or are missing,” said Shujaat. Around 50 party workers have been killed since the beginning of the Karachi operation, she said, adding that about 140 workers remain missing. Speaking about the death of Aftab Ahmed in Rangers’ custody, she said it is painful for mothers to see how their children are being treated. Ahmed’s mother, Saleema Bibi, said her son has left behind five children and there is no one to look after them.
