It seems that Robert Downey Jr took a walk down memory lane when he appeared as a guest on The Howard Stern Show this week. The 51-year-old Captain America: Civil War actor reflected on his seven-year relationship with the Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker, reported The Independent.
Downey Jr who dated Parker from 1984 until 1991, shared why things probably didn’t work out between the former couple. “We were at a very conservative relationship concerning the fact that she was normal and I was out of my mind,” he explained. “I did the best I could.”

The actor recalled that during the time he was dating Parker, he was struggling with alcohol and substance abuse which had a severe effect on their relationship. In 2008, Downey Jr told Parade magazine how Parker supported him throughout their relationship. “I liked to drink, and I had a drug problem, and that didn’t click with Sarah Jessica, because it is the furthest thing from what she is. She provided me a home and understanding. She tried to help me,” Entertainment Tonight quoted Downey Jr as saying.
“She was so miffed when I didn’t get my act together. Private stuff aside, we were able to spend some time together, and it was really cool.”
