ABBOTTABAD:
Political parties must take concrete measures to protect the sovereignty of Pakistan as corruption has dealt a critical blow to the country.

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq shared these views while speaking at a conference in Abbottabad on Friday evening.

“Administrative and financial corruption has threatened the country’s sovereignty,” he said. “It is essential for all political parties to come forward and protect the interests of the country.”

According to the JI chief, corruption was one of the major internal challenges faced by the country.

“The time is ripe for political parties to [do away with] their differences and work towards the development of the country,” he added.

Siraj said the scourge of corruption can only be tackled in the country if a voice is raised against the corrupt elements.

The JI chief urged party workers and philanthropists to contribute towards JI’s ongoing drive against corruption to bring prosperity to the country.

Siraj announced to launch a country-wide campaign against corruption. He said the people who looted public resources will either have to return the money or face accountability and imprisonment.

JI also organised a sit-in in various cities to rid the country of corrupt politicians. Hundreds of JI supporters participated at the sit-in.
