“We have fought and continue to fight for rights around the world. When it comes to women’s rights we are still in the dark ages,” Madonna wrote alongside a photograph of herself. “My dress at the Met Ball was a political statement as well as a fashion statement,” she added. “The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an ageist and sexist society.”
The Crazy for You hit-maker wore a custom Riccardo Tisci-designed black Givenchy gown which she teamed with a pair of latex knee-length boots and a silver headpiece for the event. She flashed her torso which was only covered by lace overlay and black tape. Speaking about her outfit, she shared, “I have never thought in a limited way and I’m not going to start. We cannot effect change unless we are willing to take risks.”
She also revealed her derriere through lacy fabric over a skimpy black leotard. Madonna covered her arms and thighs in black tape, which is commonly, used for sports injuries.
