Punjab govt extends supports to abandoned boy
The ten-year-old was left on a road by his parents because they could not afford his treatment.
RAHIM YAR KHAN:
The Punjab government on Thursday announced that it will bear all the expenses for the treatment of a ten-year-old boy who was thrown out of his house by his parents on Tuesday.
The health secretary of Punjab, Fawad Hassan, today said that the government will bear the medical expenses for the treatment of Ameen, who had been abandoned by his parents because he was ill and his parents could not afford his treatment.
On the orders of Punjab's Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Ameen was shifted to the Mayo Hospital in Lahore from Rahim Yar Khan.
According to the boy's father, Shareef, Ameen was abandoned on the road because he kept crying due to the pain.
“He kept crying and I couldn’t help him. I cannot afford his treatment”.
While some reports say that Ameen is a cancer patient, his father, a resident of Kot Sabzal, said that several blood tests had been conducted for Ameen at different private hospitals and he had been diagnosed with leukaemia.
Shareef is a prayer leader in the main Kot Sabzal mosque and repairs bicycles part time. He said that he "paid off everything to pay for his treatment but now I cannot afford to pay his bills”.
