Further, the service will be available in all 48 continental US states.

Chef'd is a year-old startup, which delivers pre-portioned ingredients for recipes and is based in El Segundo, California. It currently has two distribution centres where it prepares meal kits.

According to founder Kyle Ransford, "Chef'd delivers hundreds of thousands of meal kits every month." It gets food directly from food manufacturers, distributors and farms.

To begin with, of the New York Times' over 17,000 recipes, only 'a handful' will be available. The company hoped that the service will eventually be directly available on NYT Cooking.
